Hunter Safety

  • Hunt with a buddy. Tell others where you are going
  • Alcohol, smoking and heavy meals impair the heart's ability to perform strenuous exercise; you want to avoid these the day before the hunt.
  • NEVER drag your animal if you have heart disease
  • Take breaks while hunting, especially over hilly terrain, in deep snow and when dragging your animal
  • If you are on heart medication, take your prescription regularly, including while you are out hunting.
  • Know the warning signs of a heart attack and stroke and take any signs of unusual discomfort seriously.
