Hunter Safety

- Hunt with a buddy. Tell others where you are going
- Alcohol, smoking and heavy meals impair the heart's ability to perform strenuous exercise; you want to avoid these the day before the hunt.
- NEVER drag your animal if you have heart disease
- Take breaks while hunting, especially over hilly terrain, in deep snow and when dragging your animal
- If you are on heart medication, take your prescription regularly, including while you are out hunting.
- Know the warning signs of a heart attack and stroke and take any signs of unusual discomfort seriously.
The "Rule of 3s" - We can survive for
- 3 minutes without AIR
- 3 hours in severe weather without SHELTER
- 3 days without WATER
- 3 weeks without FOOD
